Holy Trinity Church in Milton Regis, Sittingbourne organised a free community open day on 14th September 2019.
The day was a community engagement event which was for all ages. The event opened to the public at 10am, but there was much work beforehand by helpful volunteers and staff to set up for the day.
There was teddy bear abseiling. Children were invited to bring in their teddies from home for them to go on an adventurous ride. Christine brought in her big teddy to share with young children if they had forgotten their own. The children were very excited and loved this station. Solomon one of the volunteers, helped us prepare the abseiling. He was able to use his strength to pull up the basket. We thank him very much for his assistance.
Esther a very appreciated volunteer, got her hands into the activities. She gave everything a go including plastering, masonry, bell ringing and she even promoted Diversity House in between and engaged with the stalls. There was refreshments and free lunch served in the community hall for when people were tired from all the activities.
Architect John spoke to individuals about the structure of the building and the history of the church. He was very knowledgeable and answered any questions asked by the eager public.
The bells rang all day, and overall the event was a success. Many in the community would love more activities like this to have a greater sense of community.
