Black History Month 2019
Diversity House ran a Black History Month 2019 event in Phoenix House, which was funded by Swale Borough Councils Cultural grant. The focus of the event was the celebration of achievements from Black Individuals in Kent. We showcased the work of Barbara Walker, who is currently exhibiting her work at The Turner in Margate until April 2020. Half Term Youth Club
October Half Term Youth ClubDiversity House hosted its school holiday themed youth club. This holiday's theme was Autumn. The young people who ranged from ages 4-16, enjoyed the day together. It was a place of socialisation and was an excellent active end to the October holidays.We began with serving the children hot chocolate with marshmallows, chocolate shavings and cream. Causes that Matter 2019 – Kent Community Foundation
18th September 2019 Diversity House were privileged to be invited to Kent Community Foundation’s ‘Causes that Matter’ event on 18th September 2019. A number of local charities were invited for an afternoon at Eastwell Manor to celebrate our hard work and achievements. DJ Workshop – Part 2
DJ Workshop For the remaining sessions of the DJ workshop with Joined Up Thinking (JIT), the kids continued to learn how to beat match songs and how to transition from one song to another song smoothly. They also practised picking songs that go well together considering the bpm and the tempo of the songs. In the last session, the kids selected 4 songs of their choice and had to transitions through each song using the cross fader which helps
Summer Youth Club – Final Session
Final Week of Summer Youth Club For the last session of the youth club, the kids paint African tribal masks. They used various coloured paints to design their masks cut out from cardboard. After lunch, they had a dance session directed by Shaney and Emily which they continued with from the previous week. They successfully perfected the dance routine and were able to perform confidently. To cool down, they played musical statues and did freestyling to their favourite songs
