A new special educational needs and disabilities strategy for children and young people in Kent
The NHS and Kent County Council (KCC) are asking for views on their new special educational needs and disabilities strategy.
The strategy sets out the joint ambitions of the NHS and KCC to make sure that all children in Kent have equal access to support, health care and education to meet their unique needs. Children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities strategy and their parents and carers helped develop the strategy.
There are five priorities for action to make sure that children and their families are supported to live their best life and is an important part of the improvement work we are doing with KCC, following an inspection of services carried out by OFSTED and CQC in 2019.
Before the strategy is finalised we are carrying out a consultation to make sure everyone can have their say.
You can tell us what you think about the strategy by visiting the KCC website. The consultation is open from Wednesday 2 December and will remain open until midnight, Thursday 4 February.
Please also encourage colleagues, families you work with and your contacts from external organisations to share their views on the strategy.
